Food at The Cart Shed is not fast food it is freshly prepared every day to order. As such takes time so please be patient and enjoy each others company, and perhaps a cocktail, or a glass or two of wine.
“The Cart Shed has been many things in the past. In the 1600s it was actually a cart shed & in more recent times it was used to keep cows & pigs. Its last farm use was for chickens around 36 years ago. Since then it has had many domestic uses mostly based around entertaining & food.”
The Cart Shed restaurant opened in 2016 and has been a great success so far. Our menu is mostly game, as well as having possibly some of the best steaks you will find on a menu anywhere. The menu changes often but will always have a few familiar favourites. Meat is usually cooked over a wood fire giving distinctive smokey flavours and also a focal point. As you enter the restaurant through William and Vicki’s kitchen you can see every dish is prepared fresh to order.
There is a great wine list but feel free to bring your own (£7.50 corkage*) or try some of our fabulous cocktails. After your dinner why not take a seat by the fire and enjoy a glass of single malt or a nice port with a delicious cigar.
The restaurant aims to serve local and homegrown (where possible) and always seasonal food.
The Cart Shed Restaurant has now been running for 3 years and last year was in the top 10 Game Restaurant as nominated by our wonderful customers in the Eat Game Awards 2018. We will always champion wild and locally produced food. The restaurant continues to draw new customers as well as seeing lots of returning friendly faces and we will continue to try and produce the VERY BEST food we can.
We hope to see you here soon.
Raised on the family farm in Epping, William Alldis picked up a gun around the same time he picked up a saucepan – aged five. His father taught him in the barn with an air rifle, then swiftly progressed him to shotguns, while William’s grandmother, and mother passed on all the family’s culinary secrets. Both shooting and cooking remained William’s life long passions and William worked as a chef at restaurants across Europe.
Branded ‘one of the most stylish’ and ‘natural’ shots by many accomplished Guns have ever seen, William continues to combine his passion for food, photography, wildlife and of course shooting and fishing, by running this new restaurant he hopes to introduce his passions to a new audience.
